Rourkela: A woman was sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment by a local court for killing her mother-in-law at a village in Biramitrapur area of Sundargarh district.

Additional district judge Janab Mohd Ajmal while convicting Priyanka Jha (23) awarded life imprisonment for killing Sabita Devi (55) with a sharp weapon at their house in village Patalakuda on December 27, 2010.

The judgement was pronounced on Saturday after the trial involving examination of 14 witnesses, medical report and other documents by the court.

According to prosecution, the murder, an outcome of family dispute, was noticed by the convict`s husband who reported the matter to police.
