Wild bear strays into Berhampur University

Berhampur: A wild bear strayed into the Berhampur University campus here triggering panic among the students and employees of the varsity, officials said on Wednesday.

Students refrained from moving around in the campus during the evening hours even though the forest personnel were monitoring the movement of the animal after it strayed into the campus yesterday.

"Our staff have been closely monitoring the movement of the animal in the campus," said divisional forest officer (Berhampur) A K Jena.

The animal, however, did not hurt anyone, he said.

The bear, suspected to have migrated from the nearby jungle, was moving in and around the campus for about a month, forest officials said.
