Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said the State is facing two major threats- Covid-19 and cyclone 'Yaas'- and sought full cooperation of all to tackle the twin challenges.
Addressing the people of the State through a video message ahead of impending cyclone, Patnaik appealed all to be more careful in view of Covid-19 second wave and wear double masks.
“Always wear two masks wherever you are- in a cyclone shelter or pucca houses. In the present situation, wearing two masks is very important for our health. Double mask for double risk,” he said.
He also appealed to people to frequently wash hands with soap and sanitizers.

“Four and a half crore Odias are my family and safety of my family in times of danger is one of the biggest priorities for me. We are facing two major threats at the same time - Covid and Cyclone 'Yaas'. Therefore, I appeal to all to cooperate with the administration,” the CM said.
Stating that the government’s aim is to ensure safely of all, he urged everyone to move to safer places like cyclone shelters and pucca houses before the onset of the cyclone.
He said the administration has been under pressure for the past two months for Covid and appealed to all to extend full support to the administration in dealing with the cyclone.
“In May last year also we faced cyclone Amphan along with Covid. We successfully dealt with the situation with cooperation of people,” he said recalling the trying times.
“Cyclone is not new to Odisha, yet we have to be careful. Because minor negligence could pose a big risk. The government is fully prepared to deal with both cyclone and Covid situation,” he said.
He expressed hope that the cooperation of the people will further strengthen the State’s preparedness.
The CM directed Collectors to provide masks to the people through Mission Shakti Groups. The Chief Minister expressed confidence in people's resilience and said, ‘we all will fight together against these two threats and win.’
