The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has predicted that there is no likelihood of widespread heavy rainfall in Odisha over the next few days. However, some parts of the state, particularly interior northern Odisha and some coastal districts, may experience light to moderate rainfall.
According to the latest bulletin, thundershowers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places. Wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kmph in some areas. In view of the prevailing weather conditions, a yellow warning has been issued for 20 districts for today and tomorrow.
The meteorological centre further stated that this pattern of weather is expected to continue for the next three days. Thereafter, rainfall activity may gradually decrease across the state.
During the current monsoon season, Odisha has recorded 10 percent above-normal rainfall. Sixteen districts have received normal rainfall so far, while nine districts have recorded excess precipitation. Meanwhile, five districts have witnessed deficient rainfall.
Meanwhile, people have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
