A thick blanket of fog enveloped the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in the early hours of Thursday resulting in a significant drop in visibility. The visibility reportedly reduced to as low as 50 metres in some places of the cities.
Similar foggy conditions were also reported in some other parts of the State, including the pilgrim city of Puri. The Lord Jagannath Temple became almost invisible as fog engulfed the town bringing down the visibility to less than 100 metres today morning.
Several devotees even said that they could not have the ‘darshan’ of the shrine’s Neelachakra due to the dense fog in the early hours of Thursday.
“The temple is almost invisible while the Neelachakra seems to have vanished in the sky due to the thick fog. I couldn’t have the darshan of the Neelachakra,” said a devotee who visited the Srimandir in the early hours today.
Vehicular movement was also affected in the Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri and other parts of the State. Motorists were seen having a tough time due to the foggy weather conditions, said reports.
On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre in the Capital City yesterday said that dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha till March 6.
No significant change will be witnessed both in maximum temperature (Day Temperature) and minimum temperature (Night Temperature) during the next 4-5 days, added the Met Centre.
Mainly clear sky becoming partly cloudy towards afternoon or evening will be seen in Bhubaneswar. Maximum and Minimum temperature in the capital city is very likely to be around 34 degree Celsius and 19 degree Celsius, respectively, said the Met Centre.
