After days of intense heatwave, scorching sun and humid conditions, Odisha is likely to experience a significant change in weather from Thursday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the day temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius starting today, bringing much-needed relief from the sultry conditions.

Rain Set To Return

The forecast comes as rain is set to return in many districts. The MeT office has predicted that from June 14 onwards, several parts of the state may witness heavy rainfall under the influence of the monsoon.

Warning For Thunderstorm

Meanwhile, the weather office has issued a thunderstorm warning for the next three days for various districts. Isolated places in the state may experience strong winds accompanied by heavy rain.

Districts including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri have been placed on alert due to the possibility of lightning and strong gusty winds.

Authorities have urged residents in these areas to stay cautious and avoid open spaces during thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, with the return of the monsoon, both farmers and urban dwellers are expected to get relief from the prolonged dry spell and rising discomfort index.
