Odisha sizzles as 25 places record temperature over 40 Degrees Celsius

Several parts of Odisha experience heat wave condition

Sweltering heat prevailed over most parts of Odisha on Thursday with as many as 25 towns recording temperature of over 40 Degrees Celsius.

As per the weather update shared by the India Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar, Baripada was the hottest town in Odisha today with maximum temperature of 43.5 Degrees Celsius. It was followed by Angul, Boudh, and Sonepur that recorded 42.5 Degrees Celsius each.

While Titlagarh witnessed 42.2 Degrees Celsius; Talcher, Bhawanipatna, and Bolangir witnessed 42 Degrees Celsius each.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperatures of 40.8 and 41.4 Degrees Celsius, respectively.

As per the prediction by the regional center of the India Meteorological Department, the day temperature at several places in Odisha is likely to increase by three to five Degrees Celsius in the next two days.

Heat wave warning has been issued for five districts tomorrow and for as many as eight districts on April 15.

“The temperature is unbearable after 12 pm. However, we are forced to go outside due to urgent work. We are drinking lemonade and using towel and umbrella to beat the heat,” said a resident of Biramitrapur.

Meanwhile, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Pramila Malik said that all kinds of necessary measures have been taken in view of the severe heat wave conditions.

“All the Collectors are fully alert. In view of the severe heat wave conditions, all kinds of necessary measures have been taken as per the directions of the government,” said Malik.
