Several places across Odisha are now reeling under intense cold wave conditions. Daringbadi in Kandhamal district recorded minimum (night) temperature of 7 degree Celsius which was the lowest in the State, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
As per IMD, there will be no respite from cold condition as the mercury is likely to plummet further in some parts of the State in coming days.
As many as 22 places recorded minimum temperature below 15 degree Celsius on Wednesday night.
Phulbani recorded minimum temperature of 9 degree C, followed by Keonjhar 10.4 degree C, Jharsuguda 10.6 degree C, Koraput 10.6 degree C, Titilagarh 10.8 degree C, Bhawanipatna 11 degree C, Sundargarh 11.5 degree C, Talcher 12 degree C and Angul recorded minimum temperature of 12.6 degree C.
The winter onset was delayed in Odisha this year. Several districts are experience dense fog during early morning, leading to disruption in movement of vehicular traffic.
Despite cold and dense fog conditions a large number of people are thronging parks and other places for exercise and other physical activities to keep themselves fit.
“We are conscious about health and fitness for which we get up early and engage in physical activities despite odd weather conditions,” said a local resident.
