Odisha districts to experience thunderstorms, hot and humid conditions; mercury to rise, predicts IMD

Several parts of Odisha on Tuesday experienced hot and humid conditions, which adversely affected the daily routine of people. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that there will be no major change in the maximum temperature in Odisha for the next two days. 

However, there is every possibility that the maximum or day temperature will subsequently rise by 2 to 4 degree C  thereafter over the districts of state.

The IMD has also predicted that thunderstorm activities are likely to continue in some parts of Odisha in coming days as well.

Apart from this, the IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm activities as well as hot and humid conditions in different pockets of the state.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam.

Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sundargarh.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.05.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.05.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangapur.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.05.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.05.2025)

Yellow Warning: Hot and Humid Conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.05.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.05.2025)

Yellow Warning: Hot and humid conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda.
