Odisha boils as temperature crosses 40 degrees Celsius in several places

The soaring temperature threw normal life out of gear across the State. While roads started bearing a deserted look during the noon hours, cyclists and pedestrians were seen holding umbrella or wearing a turban to save themselves from the scorching heat.

With nine places recording maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and above, Odisha continued to boil for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. 

On Tuesday, Baripada became the hottest place registering maximum of 41.6 degrees Celsius. Jharsuguda recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur (40.8), Bhubaneswar (40.7), Boudh and Titlagarh (40.5 each) while Angul, Cuttack, and Sundargarh recorded 40 degrees Celsius each.
