Normal life in Bhubaneswar was adversely affected after a nor’wester hit the capital city on Thursday evening.
According to sources, several trees were uprooted and vehicular movement was disrupted after thunderstorm accompanied by squally wind wreaked havoc in the State capital.
Similarly, the downpour under the influence of the nor’wester led to water-logging in several parts of Bhubaneswar, informed sources adding that the flooded road connecting Raj Mahal to Master Canteen affected vehicular movement on the route.
Several bikes in OMC parking area were reportedly damaged after an uprooted tree fell on the parked vehicles. Besides, the tents set up by the Ajanta Circus troupe at the Exhibition Ground also suffered massive damage in the nor’wester, just hours ahead of its first show in the city.
“We have booked 12 tickets for the first show of the circus. But, suddenly the weather changed and nor’wester hit the city. The tent set up by the circus was damaged completely,” said a resident of Bhubaneswar.
“We did not allow people to remain inside the tent before the nor’wester. Anything can happen if the tent falls. Those who want a refund can return their tickets. If they want to watch the show they can come with the same ticket,” said the organiser of Ajanta Circus.
