The daytime temperature in Odisha is likely to go up by two to three degree Celsius than normal temperature in the coming four to five days, predicted the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
At a time when people across the state are experiencing intense heat wave conditions, the IMD’s announcement has left them worried.
On Sunday, eight cities recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and above. Both Sambalpur and Talcher recorded the highest day temperature at 38.6 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the daytime mercury soared above 38 degrees Celsius in Bhubaneswar.
Report said, the soaring temperature threw normal life out of gear in these areas. After 12 noon, the roads bore a deserted look. Instead of venturing out, people chose to remain inside. Those who had urgency were on the roads. Cyclists and pedestrians were seen using headgear and umbrellas to protect themselves from the scorching sun.
