No change in max temp; IMD issues yellow alert for thunderstorm in Odisha districts

There will be no major change in the maximum (day) temperature in Odisha in the next four to five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

As per the IMD, several parts of the state will experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activities during the next few days.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Hailstorm is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Bolangir, Nuapada, and Kalahandi.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Boudh, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Gajapati.

Hailstorm is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.04.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.05.2023)
