Even as unseasonal rain lashed many parts of Odisha in the past two days, several districts are likely to witness more downpours in the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar has issued Yellow Warning for heavy rain, thunderstorm, lightening and hail for several districts for the next three days.
As per the forecast, thunderstorm with lightening is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on Thursday.
Similarly, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Ganjam will experience thunderstorm with lightening and hail on Friday.
In addition, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Ganjam on Friday.
Moreover, thunderstorm with lightening and hail is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on Saturday.
Speaking about the rainfall activities in the past 24 hours, the weather office said light to moderate rainfall had occurred at most places over the districts of interior Odisha, at many places over the districts of south coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Bolangir and Nabarangpur of south interior Odisha.
Hailstorm has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Bolangir of south interior Odisha, the weather office said citing media reports.
