Temperature surged above the 40 degree Celsius mark in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Monday for the first time this summer season.

As per the data shared by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre, Bhubaneswar recorded maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius while Cuttack recorded 40.5 degree Celsius today.

Normal life in the twin cities were adversely affected following the steep rise in the maximum (day) temperature.

Apart from that, several other districts in the State are also feeling the pinch due to steep rise in the mercury. Angul district today recorded the highest temperature of 43.7 degrees, the maximum for any place in Odisha today followed by 43.2 degrees in Bolangir.

As per the IMD, 21 towns in the State recorded maximum temperature of 40 degrees or above.
