Maximum temp rises in Odisha; IMD issues yellow alert for thunderstorm

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted that the maximum temperature likely to rise by 2 –to 3°C during next 3 days and no large change thereafter in subsequent 4days over the districts of Odisha.

Several parts of Odisha are currently experiencing intense hot and humid conditions. As per official sources, Hirakud recorded maximum temperature of 39.8 degree C by 2.30 pm on Saturday, followed by 39.6 in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda 39.4 and Bhubaneswar recorded 37 degrees C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted that the maximum temperature likely to rise by 2 –to 3°C during next 3 days and no large change thereafter in subsequent 4days over the districts of Odisha.

However, several districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm activities as well. A yellow warning in this hard has also been issued by the IMD.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2025)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput.
