Most places of interior and many places of coastal Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall or thundershower on Wednesday under the impact of a low-pressure area that had formed over southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood on Tuesday.
“Yesterday's Low-Pressure Area now lies over southeast Jharkhand and neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards,” tweeted Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar today morning.

The Met Centre has issued yellow warning for heavy rainfall in 11 districts, including Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Angul, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Deogarh and Sundargarh for 24 hours.
Similarly, yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning have been sounded for Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur and Boudh district during the period, informed Umashankar Das, a weather scientist at the Bhubaneswar Met Centre.
The Met Centre has also issued yellow warning for heavy rainfall in Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Bolangir on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Odisha Special Relief Commission (SRC) directed all the district collectors to stay alert for any emergency situation that may arise due to rainfall triggered the low pressure.
