A low pressure system is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 23, moving towards Tamil Nadu. IMD predicts isolated heavy rain spells in south peninsular India.

An upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas around November 21. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become a low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.

Thereafter, it is likely to continue move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during subsequent two days. A continuous watch is being maintained for further intensification and movement of system towards Tamil Nadu - Sri Lanka coasts, sources said.

Similarly, a cyclonic circulation lies over Comorin area and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels. As per IMD, another cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Arabian sea off Kerala coast in lower tropospheric levels.

Weather Forecast

Light to moderate rainfall at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the week and  moderate rainfall at isolated places likely over Assam and Meghalaya on 21st & 22nd November.

Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 20th & 26th, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam & Rayalaseema on 26th November.

Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Lakshadweep on 20th, Kerala & Mahe on 20th & 26th, Nicobar during 22nd – 24th and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 25th November.
