The low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts and the associated cyclonic circulation persists.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday informed that the low-pressure area is likely to move northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next two days. As per IMD, several parts of Odisha experienced moderate to heavy rainfall activities for the past two days.
Several districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall activities in the next 48 hours and an ‘orange warning’ has been issued from some districts, said IMD.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nuapada.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 22.09.2023)
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at a one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Deogarh.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Sonepur, and Angul.
