IMD issues red alert for heavy rain in Mayurbhanj
The low pressure area over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood moved west-northwestwards and lay as a well marked low pressure area over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bangladesh coast, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over coastal West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal by tomorrow (September 14, 2024).
As per IMD, some parts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm in some districts. However, a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Mayurbhanj district.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Puri, Nabarangpur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir.

Red Warning: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall & thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj.
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.09.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh , Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh.
