The cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea and the neighbourhood persists and now extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.
As per IMD, the formation of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) is getting delayed as the cyclonic circulation is practically stationary over the same region. However, a low pressure is likely to form over BoB around October 13, 2021.
“Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a Low Pressure is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea around October 13, 2021,” said IMD.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD further said that the low pressure system is likely to move west-northwest wards and reach south Odisha -north Andhra Pradesh coasts as a ‘Well Marked low pressure’ around October 15, 2021.
The IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar today said the South west Monsoon has withdrawn from several parts Odisha including Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada and most parts of Angul and Boudh districts and some parts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts.
“Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of SW monsoon from some more parts of Odisha during next 2 days,” tweeted the Regional Met Centre.
