The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that a low pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal by around September 30, 2023. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with possibility of gradual intensification, the IMD said.
In its daily weather bulletin, the IMD further informed that the southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from parts of southwest Rajasthan today against its normal date of withdrawal from southwest Rajasthan of September 17.
The withdrawal of monsoon is based on the following meteorological conditions:
Anti-cyclonic circulation at 850 hPa level
No rainfall during last 5 days
Water vapour imagery indicates dry weather conditions over the region.
