A cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea is set to form a low-pressure area, intensifying northwards. Odisha sees rainfall, with Jharsuguda recording 55.4mm. A Kalbaisakhi warning issued for 13 districts.

Under the influence of a well-marked cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining coastal areas of north Karnataka and Goa, a low-pressure area is likely to form within the next 12 hours.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Umashankar Das, this system is expected to move northwards and gradually intensify. Within the subsequent 36 hours, the low-pressure area is likely to develop further into a depression.

 

 

Rainfall Activity in Odisha

Meanwhile, Odisha witnessed rainfall activity in several locations and the highest rainfall recorded in the district of Jharsuguda, that was 55.4mm. Besides, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall in the next seven day.

On the other hand, Sambalpur recorded the highest 42 degrees Celsius on May 20. 

Kalbaisakhi Warning Issued For 13 Districts

Yellow Warning has been issued for 13 districts, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. These areas may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph.

No Major Change in Weather Condition

While the Kalbaisakhi storms have brought short-term relief, the IMD predicts no significant change in the overall weather pattern until May 25.
