An upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the east-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast around May 21. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around 22nd May. Thereafter, it is likely to move northwards and intensify further, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.
As per IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced over some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives and Comorin area; South Bay of Bengal, the remaining parts of the Andaman Islands and the Andaman Sea; and some parts of the eastcentral Bay of Bengal today.

East & Central India: Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely over West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand; Isolated to Scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds speed reaching 30-50 kmph likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar during next 7 days.
