Low Pressure Forms Over Southern Gangetic WB; Check IMD’s Forecast For Odisha

Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood, a Low Pressure area has formed over southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar several parts of Odisha are experiencing light to moderate rainfall for the past couple of days. Several parts of the State also received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Around six stations received heavy downpour in the past 24 hours. Hirakud (Sambalpur) received maximum rainfall of 105.5 mm, followed by 82.4 mm at Altuma (Dhenkanal) , Kamakhyanagar (Dhenkanal) 76.1 mm, Talcher (Angul) 75.0 mm, Harichandanpur (Keonjhar) 67.2 mm, Chhendipada (Angul) 65.2 mm and Kujanga (Jagatsinghpur) recorded 65 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours.

IMD on Monday predicted that a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around September 25. The system is likely to trigger widespread heavy rainfall in different parts of Odisha from September 26, 2021.
