The low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri-Lanka coast with associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid tropospheric levels, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
As per IMD, it is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours.
“ It is very likely to move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts till November 12 morning. Thereafter, it would move west-northwestwards across Tamil nadu-Puducherry and Kerala during November 12-13,” said IMD.

Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Rayalaseema and south Coastal Andhra Pradesh during November 11 to 13 and isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala & Mahe on November 11-14.
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on November 11 and over north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on November 12, 2022.
Wind warning
November 10 and 11: Squally Weather (wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) likely to prevail over Southwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, along & off south Andhra Pradesh-TamilnaduPuducherry and Sri Lanka coasts, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area.
November 12: Squally weather (wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) likely to prevail over Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar, Southwest & Westcentral Bay of Bengal, along & off south Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and Sri Lanka coasts.
November 13 and 14: Squally weather (wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) likely over Lakshadweep area, Maldives-Comorin area, Southeast Arabian Sea and along & off Kerala & adjoining south Tamil Nadu coasts.
In another development, IMD's Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar predicted considerable drop in minimum (night) temperature in different parts of Odisha. As per the forecast, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees during the next 4-5 days.
