Low Pressure Forms
A low-pressure area has developed over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that formed yesterday, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.
This newly-formed system is expected to gradually move in the north-west direction over southwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.
Will It Impact Odisha?
The IMD further reported that the low-pressure area is likely to shift slightly northwards over west-central Bay of Bengal over the next 48 hours. However, the department has not yet predicted whether this system will have any direct impact on Odisha.
At present, meteorologists are closely monitoring the system’s trajectory. While such developments often bring rainfall or stormy weather to the eastern coastal regions, including Odisha, a clearer picture is expected to emerge in the coming days as the system progresses.
Citizens, particularly fishermen and coastal communities, are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins, as further developments and possible alerts could follow depending on the system’s intensification and movement.
