The weather department has issued an orange alert for five districts today due to heavy rainfall. These districts are Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Gajapati. Several parts of Odisha will continue to experience thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall in some parts of the state for the next two days, the MeT department predicted.
Rainfall is expected to continue in the state till the 7th of this month, reports said. The Regional Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow warning for 14 coastal and nearby districts of Odisha.
The temperature has dropped by 2-3 degrees owing to the rainfall. However, after three days, day temperatures may rise again, likely increasing by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

“Heavy rain is expected in Odisha on the 5th, hailstorm is also possible along with heavy rain, rain warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati... Rain is also likely at different places on the 6th, rain will be slightly less on 7th-8th May,” informed IMD scientist Dr Sanjeev Dwivedi.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
