IMD issues yellow warning for heavy rainfall in Odisha; check district-wise forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a ‘yellow warning’ for heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha in the coming days.

As per the IMD, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Churu, Guna, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Balasore, and thence southeastwards to Central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation over west-central Bay of Bengal adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coast now lies over the North and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal, the IMD said.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 07.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.07.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.
