For the first time in 2024, the IMD has issued a red alert for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in several parts for two days in Odisha. As per the latest IMD forecast, the red alert has been issued for 9 Odisha districts on April 26 and 15 districts on April 27, 2024.
It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of Odisha are already reeling under intense heat wave conditions and the red warning is an indication of more gruelling conditions ahead.
The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to rise by 2-4°C during the next 3 to 4 days at many places over the district of Odisha.
