IMD issues ‘orange warning’ for thunderstorm, hailstorm and heavy rainfall in Odisha districts

The orange warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50kmph and hailstorm has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Puri.

IMD issues orange warning for Odisha districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday sounded an ‘orange warning’ for heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50kmph and hailstorm is likely to occur at several parts of the state in the next 24 hours.

The orange warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50kmph and hailstorm has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Puri. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur. The warning will remain valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.03.2023 up to 0830 hrs IST of March 19, IMD said.
