The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an ‘orange warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha for a period of two days starting from August 24, 2024.
As per IMD, the low-pressure area over north Bangladesh and the neighbourhood persisted over the same region. It is likely to move nearly westwards across West Bengal during the next 48 hours.
Several parts of Odisha are also likely to experience thunderstorm activities in the coming days as well, predicted IMD.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Balasore.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 23.08.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 24.08.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara.
