Heavy rainfall to lash Odisha for next 3 days, yellow warning issued for 22 districts

Parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next three days due to a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand, predicts the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar. A yellow warning has been issued for 22 districts today, with Subarnapur, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal and Cuttack expecting up to 20 cm of rain. The rainfall activity is expected to reduce from Saturday.

Several parts of Odisha will continue to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall activities for the next three days under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar predicted on Thursday.

According to a bulletin issued by the MeT office, yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for 22 districts today.

Subarnapur, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal and Cuttack are expected to record 12 to 20 cm rainfall today, the bulletin stated, adding that the rainfall activities will gradually come down from Saturday.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 03.08.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh.
