The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy rainfall and heatwave conditions in several parts of the country.
As per IMD, the southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, entire Goa, some parts of Konkan and some more parts of Karnataka.
“Conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian sea, some more parts of south Maharashtra, parts of Tamil Nadu and remaining parts of Tamilnadu, some parts of south Andhra Pradesh and some more parts of westcentral & northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours,” said IMD.
Rainfall forecast:
Under the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeast and adjoining east India in lower tropospheric levels, light/moderate rainfall is likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 5 days.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya , Sikkim during the next 5 days.
Isolated/scattered rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 5 days.
Heat wave warnings:
Heat wave conditions in isolated places very likely over Jharkhand during June 10-12;
Punjab, Haryana-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan on June 10 and June 11.
Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, interior Odisha on June 10.
