Heavy rainfall for another 4 days in Odisha; low pressure to concentrate into depression in next 24hrs

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several parts of Odisha for the next four days due to a well-marked low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. This low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression and cross the Odisha coast within 24 hours, as per IMD. Orange warnings have been issued for multiple districts including Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall for another 4 days in Odisha

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash several parts of Odisha for another four days due to the well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.

As of today, 19th July, the well-marked low-pressure area over the central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal lay over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off Odisha- North Andhra Pradesh coasts. 

It is likely to concentrate into a depression over the same region during the next 12 hrs and move northwestwards and cross the Odisha coast during the subsequent 24 hours, IMD added.

At least districts like Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Boudh and Puri have been issued orange warnings for rainfall. There will be heavy to very heavy rainfall is Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi. 

Similarly, another nine districts have been issued yellow warnings. Moreover, squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and along and off North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal coasts during the next 48 hrs.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and along and off Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal coasts during the next two days.

For tomorrow, the weather department has issued orange warnings to three districts while at least 13 districts have been issued yellow warnings.
