The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an alert for thunderstorms and heavy spells of rain in several parts of Odisha in the next three hours.
As per the latest bulletin, the alert has been issued for the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Balasore, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, and Bolangir.
"Light to moderate rain/thundershowers with one or two intense/heavy spells of rain likely to affect some parts of districts of Odisha within the next three hours," read the IMD's advisory.
The heavy rainfall could attribute to waterlogging in low-lying areas, poor visibility, and traffic disruption in urban areas, the advisory added.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure system is also likely to form over the Bay of Bengal along the coast of Odisha and West Bengal today.
