Even as February has just begun, Odisha has already started feeling the heat with temperatures rising at several locations across the State. This unexpected rise in temperature has raised concerns about an intense summer ahead.

According to the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, the capital city recorded 34.4 degree Celsius by 2.30 pm on Sunday. 

The highest maximum temperature of 35.6°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi, the weather office informed.

Moreover, a yellow warning for dense fog for 24 hours has been issued for  Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.

Day 1 (Valid until 08:30 IST, February 3, 2025)

  • Dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over Odisha.

  • Shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur in the early morning hours at Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and isolated places of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Ganjam, and Puri.

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog is anticipated in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

Day 2 (Valid from 08:30 IST, February 3, to 08:30 IST, February 4, 2025)

  • Dry weather is likely to continue.

  • Shallow to moderate fog may occur in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Ganjam, and some areas in Puri, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh.

  • Yellow Warning: Dense fog will prevail over Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, and Khurda.

Days 3 to 7 (Valid until February 9, 2025)

  • Dry weather will continue to prevail over all the districts of Odisha with shallow to moderate fog at one or two places over the above specified districts during the early morning hours.
