The Depression over Northeast Arabian Sea off Saurashtra and Kutch coasts moved westnorthwestwards during the last six hours with a speed of 10 kmph and lay centered about 220 km northwest of Porbandar (Gujarat) and 240 km south-southeast of Karachi (Pakistan).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said it is very likely to maintain the intensity of depression during next 24 hours and weaken thereafter into a well marked low pressure area.
“It is very likely to move nearly westwards towards Oman coast across northwest Arabian Sea during next 48 hours,” said IMD.
As per IMD, the low pressure area lies over north Odisha and neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto middle tropospheric levels. The monsoon trough is active and south of its normal position. It is very likely to shift gradually northwards from tonight.

Isolated rainfall also likely over Rayalaseema Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on July 17, Gujarat region, Marathawada and Telangana on 18 and Tamil Nadu during July 17 -19.
Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand during next 3 days.
