A cyclonic circulation remains active over the northern Bay of Bengal, and under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form on Thursday, triggering widespread rainfall across Odisha, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD)

According to the forecast, an Orange Warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Malkangiri today.

Additionally, Yellow Warnings for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds have been issued for 15 other districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, and Sundargarh.

Isolated intense rainfall may occur in parts of north and southern Odisha today, with rainfall activity likely to increase further tomorrow and the day after.

Red Warnings have been issued for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, indicating extremely heavy rain for Friday. Eight more districts are under Orange Warning, while 20 districts remain on Yellow Alert.

Due to the possibility of the formation of low pressure, rain is expected to continue across Odisha till July 27. As the sea is expected to remain rough during this period, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from today until July 27.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
