Even as people in several parts of Odisha are still to recover from the damages caused by heavy rainfall which caused havoc last week, their miseries are likely to be compounded with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing fresh warning for another round of heavy downpour.
As per IMD, a Cyclonic circulation is likely to form over east-central and adjoining north-east Bay of Bengal around September 25. The system is likely to move west –north-westwards and reach the Odisha coast during the subsequent 48 hours, tweeted the Regional Meteorological Centre on Monday.
“Under its influence a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha from September 26,” said IMD.

As per the latest weather update, the monsoon trough at mean sea level is now passing over Bikaner, Kota, Gaya, Kolkata and south-eastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
The current cyclonic circulation over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of north Odisha-West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts now lies over the Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood.
Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next few days:
Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 20.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.09.2021) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha, Nuapada,Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.09.2021) Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada, Sonepur, Sambalpur and Deogarh.
