Bhubaneswar: The Low Pressure over East-Central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low pressure system, the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD informed on Sunday.
It is very very likely to concentrate into depression in the next 12 hours and most probably move northnorthwestwards while intensifying into a Cyclonic Storm by 24th May.
As per the latest bulletin issued by the Met department, the system may cross the coastline between Odisha, Bengal and Bangladesh as very severe cyclonic storm by May during subsequent 24 hours.

The movement track of the probable cyclonic storm 'Yaas' can be ascertained after the low pressure over East-central BoB turns into depression. Under its impact, speed of wind will remain 40 to 50 kmph from May 24 evening, 50 to 60 kmph from May 25 & 100 to 120 kmph on May 26, Met Centre weather expert Umashakar Dash informed OTV.
Due to the cyclonic effect, north coastal districts of Odisha will are likely to recieve heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj will be most affected.
Similarly, the districts like Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha and Puri district will most probably recieve heavy rainfall during the period, said Dash.
Meanwhile, the Special Relief Commissioner has ordered for the dispatch of NDRF teams to districts most likely to be affected by the cyclonic storm.
As per sources, 7 NDRF teams will be deployed in Balasore district, 4 in Bhadrak, 3 in Kendrapara, 2 in Jajpur & 1 team each in Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj districts. The teams have been directed to reach their assigned locations by May 24, informed SRC.
