Cyclone Jawad To Grow More Weak, Heavy Rain Looms Large Over Odisha

The cyclonic storm Jawad is likely to weaken into a depression by tomorrow morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar informed on Saturday. The storm has turned into a deep depression at 5.30 pm today.

Subsequently, it will move north-NE wards along the Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area during subsequent 24 hours.

The cyclone is now lay centred about 180 km east-southeast of Vishakhapatnam, 260 km south of Gopalpur , 330 km south-southwest of Puri and 420 km south-southwest of Paradip. The storm has a speed of 9 kmph in the sea and the wind speed during this time is 45 to 55 km.

Biswas said heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak Kendrapara, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Ganjam and Gajapati.

Moreover, heavy rainfall has been predicted at isolated places over the Nayagarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
