As Odisha and Andhra Pradesh brace up for an impending cyclonic storm, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is closely tracking its real-time projected path and landfall location.

IMD’s latest forecast issued at 3 pm said that the present deep depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm. It is likely to move nearly westwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh - south Odisha coasts between Vishakhapatnam and Gopalpur around Kalingapatnam by evening of September 26, 2021.
The cyclonic storm is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of south and coastal districts of Odisha. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coasts and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal till September 27, 2021.

Wind Warning:
As per IMD, squally winds reaching 40-50 kmp gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along Odisha coast from September 25 and it will gradually increase to become gale (70-80 kmph gusting to 90kmph) from September 26 afternoon along and off south Odisha coasts.
Ganjam, Gajapati districts: The wind speed will gradually increase, becoming gale wind speed reaching 75-85 kmph gusting to 95 kmph from afternoon of September 26 till midnight.
Khordha, Puri, Rayagada, Koraput: 55 -65kmph gusting to 75 kmph
Nabarangpur, Malkangiri: 50 -60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph
Remaining parts of Odisha: Squally wind reaching speed of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph
Advisory to Collectors:
-Stay prepared to tackle any waterlogging, localised flood-like situation including in urban areas, landslides in hilly areas.
- Continuous vigil of low lying areas, dewatering wherever required.
-Effective functioning of control room round the clock.
- Reporting of rainfall to SRC office.
