The cold wave conditions continued to sweep several parts of Odisha with mercury plummeting below 10 degree Celsius in at least 10 stations of the State in the last 24 hours, informed the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Phulbani Town in Kandhamal district became the coldest place in the State as the mercury dipped to 6.2 degree Celsius on Saturday, the Meteorological Centre said.
Phulbani was followed by Keonjhar where the minimum temperature dropped to 6.4 degree Celsius, added the Met office.
Other places which recorded temperature below 10 degree Celsius are Daringbadi (7), Jharsuguda (7.6), Sonepur (7.9), Boudh (8.5), Bhawanipatna (9.0), Koraput (9.0), Hirakud (9.6) and Bolangir (9.5).
Similarly, mercury dipped to 11.2 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar on Saturday while in neighouring Cuttack it was 11.6 degree Celsius, added the Met Centre.
The Met Centre on Saturday predicted that the minimum temperature during night might fall gradually by three to five degree Celsius in most of the districts in the State till January 30. However, the night temperature would rise from January 31.
Meanwhile, yellow warning for cold wave condition has been issued for Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts.
