After a prolonged dry spell, several parts of Odisha are now experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall for the past 24 hours under the influence of a well-marked turned low pressure system.
The low pressure now lies over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that a fresh low pressure system is likely to develop on Bay of Bengal around September 11, 2021.

“A fresh Low Pressure area is likely to form over North and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal around 11th September, 2021,” tweeted IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
As per the Regional Met Centre, already several parts of the State witnessed heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. Cuttack (Banki) district received maximum rainfall of 140 mm, followed by 117.4 mm in Nayagarh (Khandapada) and 111.8 mm rainfall in Ganjam (Sorada) in the past 24 hours.
