Even as the impact of cyclone Mandous yet to subside, another cyclonic circulation is reportedly taking shape in the south Andaman Sea.
As per sources, another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the south Andaman Sea around December 13.
“A cyclonic circulation likely to emerge into south Andaman Sea around 13th December, 2022,” India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar scientist, Umashankar Das tweeted.
The cyclonic circulation will gradually intensify into a low pressure area. However, there is no predication as of now whether it will further intensify into a cyclonic storm.
Meanwhile, cyclone Mandous completed landfall off the coast of Mammallapuram near Chennai in Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning triggering widespread rainfall in the southern state.
As per the IMD, the system is very likely to move nearly westnorthwestwards and gradually weaken into a deep depression by today noon. The system moved at a speed of 8 kmph during the past six hours. It will further weaken into a depression today.
As per sources, the cyclonic storm wreaked havoc in the southern state, uprooting a number of trees. Power supply remained suspended in many parts of the city and the surroundings.
Besides, heavy rain was reported in several parts of south coastal and Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh under the influence of the cyclone.
