Sweltering heat prevailed over most parts of Odisha on Sunday with as many as eight towns recording temperature of over 40 Degree Celsius even as the Bay of Bengal is set to host a fresh low pressure in three days' time
As per a weather update shared by the India Meteorological Department, Titlagarh was the hottest town in Odisha today with temperature recording of 41.6 Degree Celsius during the peak hours of day followed by Jharsuguda and Bolangir and Boudh at 41.5 Degree Celsius each.
Mercury jumped above 40-degree mark in some other towns like Sambalpur (41.1), Sonepur (41), Bhawanipatna (40.2) and Sundargarh with 40 Degree Celsius.
Similarly, the State capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed temperature surge to a maximum of 35.9 Degree Celsius while its twin city Cuttack recorded the highest temperature of 35.4 Degree Celsius.
On the other hand, the IMD has forecast that the weather conditions are conducive for the brewing of a fresh low pressure over South East Bay of Bengal between April 5 and 6. The system is likely to bring heavy showers Andaman sea regions during the time. However, models suggest that it is unlikely to cause any major impact in Odisha.
