Two places in Odisha recorded extremely heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, the Meteorological Department Bhubaneswar informed on Wednesday. Banki in Cuttack district recorded the highest rainfall of 317 mm in the past 24 hours followed by Bhapur in Nayagarh district with 210 mm rainfall.
As per IMD, 204.5 mm or above rainfall in any region comes under extremely heavy rainfall. Similarly, any amount of rain between 115.6 mm and 204. 4mm is categorised as very heavy rainfall and rainfall within the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is put into the heavy rain category.
As per the data shared by the IMD, 17 places in Odisha recorded very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Earlier the IMD has also issued an ‘orange warning’ for very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha on Tuesday.
