Wanted CPI(ML) Red Star member arrested in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The politburo member of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Red Star, Alik Chakraborty was arrested by the police in Bhubaneswar today.

According to sources, the CPI(ML) member was held from a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

The arrest was made during a joint raid of Odisha and West Bengal police.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Odisha and West Bengal police had laid trap to arrest Alik who had visited the private hospital to treat his stomach ache. Before he could admit himself in the hospital, the joint police team arrested him, said sources.

According to sources, Alik is the brain behind the much-talked Bhangar agitation in West Bengal.

More than 70 cases are also pending against the CPI(ML) member in different police stations of the neighbouring State, added sources.
