Vishwas Patil to get Janakavi P Sawlaram award

Thane: Eminent Marathi litterateur and dramatist Vishwas Patil was today named as the recipient of the Janakavi P Sawlaram award for this year. Patil, popularly known as Panipatkar Vishwas Patil, has written extensively on Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose.

The P Sawlaram Award, given by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), comprises of Rs 25,000 cash and a memento. The Ganga-Jamuna award will be given to renown Marathi artist Suhas Joshi, who has performed in movies and theatre as well, Thane Mayor Ashok Maity announced here. The awards would be presented to the duo during a function in Thane on Saturday.

Dr Anand Nadkarni, a prominent psychiatrist and dramatist, retired school head mistress Sadhana Rasal, and Surmani Vivek Sonar, who teaches Bansri, would also be felicitated on the occasion.
